At Chingford House School the staff understand and accept their duty to protect children and to keep them safe. There are many ways in which we can do this, one way is to ensure that we know who is in the building at all times and the reason for them being there.
Visitors that come to Chingford House School are only able to visit after contacting the nursery for an appointment; anyone who arrives without having pre-booked an appointment will be refused entry and given an opportunity to make an appointment for another day.
In line with the recent coronavirus pandemic, visitors will have to follow certain protocols (see protocols for details). Visitors will be required to sign in the visitors’ book outlining the reason for their visit and have their temperature taken. Professionals such as Ofsted, Speech & Language Therapists etc. are expected to make arrangements prior to their visit and will need to show their identification on arrival.
Visitors will be informed that they cannot use mobile phones or cameras whilst they are in any of the rooms or in the vicinity of the children.
During the current pandemic, prospective parents will only be shown the outdoor play area and a specific room according to their child’s age (not the whole nursery). Parents will be accompanied at all times, and staff will not leave children unattended in the sole presence of a parent (even to collect documentation). In terms of Ofsted or Speech Therapists, they may meet with children, but staff will remain in the room.
If visitors are waiting in the lobby area, they are asked not to open the front door so that we can ensure the safety and security of all users. A member of staff will verify the person at the door.
We hope that all visitors can understand our need to keep the children safe,; any abuse, harassment or any sign of aggression will result in the person being asked to leave and where necessary, the Police being called.
